For those who are fit to donate blood, you really should consider doing that. According to the National Blood Centre of Malaysia (PDN), the current blood supply IS NOT sufficient to accommodate the rise in the number of patients. Why is that happening? Well, we heard that out of 32.4 million rakyat, only 180,650 were reported to donate their blood in 2017.

We think this ‘bloody’ situation occurs because not many of us know the benefits of blood donation, especially in the financial aspect like discounts and free medical treatment. So, to encourage you to donate some of that thick and juicy platelets...

What's covered in this article?

...let’s take a look at the incentives offered by PDN

*First-class ward with one bed: RM120 per day

On top of that, you’ll also get to know your health condition like blood counts, blood pressure, BMI, etc for free. This is because you need to go through a few medical tests before donating.

But, all these kaw-kaw benefits can only be used at public hospitals. That’s okay, public hospital’s medical care is not any less than private hospitals, really. According to the Annual Global Retirement Index 2019, Malaysia is ranking first in the best medical care treatment category with the scores of 95/10. Besides that, our health minister also said that the best medical experts are actually from public hospitals.

Still not convinced?

At first, we also felt that this sounds too good to be true. So, we decided to dig deeper into the matter. Based on what we found, we can guarantee you, there’s nothing to be afraid of. Why? Check this out

In 2018, a small business owner named Shafry was suffering from diabetes and had been admitted to a public hospital for leg surgery. The total bill for his 6 surgeries and 35 days of hospitalisation was a whopping of RM19,713!

However, he didn’t have to pay a single cent because he’s a PDN REGULAR BLOOD DONOR. He has donated 22 times already for every 3 months since 2004!

You too can enjoy these benefits by becoming a blood donor. Let’s start now!

If you are fit to become one, come straightaway to PDN for registration or drop by at these selected public hospitals. Refer to the image below.

Other than these locations, PDN also has opened a Donation Suite at Midvalley. So, if you stay within the Klang Valley area, you’re most welcome to come here as well. That aside, although the perks are great, but remember the main reason you do this - to help people in need.

Anyway, we have more to discuss about this topic like, “What will happen if the blood supply does not improve?”. So make sure to stay tuned for blood donation part 2 in the upcoming article.
