PR1MA Tutup Kedai? Here Are Other Government Agencies Available

We're pretty sure you've heard the news that Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia may be dissolved because the company is not making any profit due to its poor management, exorbitant land acquisition costs and unsuitable sites.

According to the recent news, a total of 1.42 million people have registered for PR1MA, a promise of one million homes by 2020, but only 16,682 units or 1.6% of the target were completed between 2013 and 2018, costing the government billions in public fund. Yikes! Well, that's another story for another day.

Now, to those who are looking for other options when it comes to affordable homes - don't worry. PR1MA isn't the only agency that offers affordable homes. Yup, that's right. Check out the list below.

1. Skim Perumahan Mampu Milik Swasta (MyHome)

Project Name  MyHome
Objective This scheme is one of the government's steps to encourage the private sector to build more affordable homes. The MyHome scheme offers incentives up to RM30,000 per unit that benefits both home buyers and private developers.
Target Applicants ALL Malaysians
Price Range MyHome 1 
RM80,000 - RM150,000

MyHome 2 
RM120,001 - RM300,000
 
Selection Method Screening
Eligibility Criteria  1) Malaysian citizen 
2) 21 years old and above
3) Buying your first home
4) Application for one unit to each household member
5) The income of household members must follow the requirements for MyHome1 and MyHome 2.
Documents Required 1) Copy of the applicant's identity card
2) Copy of marriage certificate
3) Copy of OKU card / OKU confirmation letter (if applicable)
4) Copy of self-employed sworn letter
5) Copy of employer's confirmation letter
6) Copy of latest paycheck
7) Copy of EPF statement or income tax return
8) Copy of pension letter (if applicable)
9) Photocopy of identity card / MyKid / birth certificate
10) Copy of the Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS) applicant and spouse.

2. Perumahan Penjawat Awam Malaysia (PPAM)

Project Name  PPAM
Objective Aims to provide quality and affordable homes to the government servants.
Target Applicants Government servants
Price Range Below RM300,000
 
Selection Method Ballot
Eligibility Criteria  1) Malaysian citizen 
2) Must be Government servants (from any job grades)/pensioners
Documents Required 1) Copy of the applicant and spouse's identity card
2) Completed PPA1M form
3) Copy of the latest paycheck
4) Statutory declaration
5) Employment details from the employer
8) Copy of pension letter (if applicable)
Constraint(s) Resale is forbidden within 10 years

3. Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR)

Project Name  PPR
Objective People's Housing Program is a government program to provide decent houses for low-income earners.

Sabah & Sarawak

Selection Method Screening
Eligibility Criteria  1) Malaysian Citizen
2) Aged 18 years old and above
3) Household income below RM 3,000 per month
4) The petitioner has no home yet
5) Follow additional terms set by the states

3) Completed application form

4. Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR)

Project Name Rumah Mesra Rakyat
Objective This program is designed to help low-income groups such as fishermen, farmers and poor families who do not have homes or live in obsolete homes but have land to build their own perfect and comfortable homes.
Target Applicants ALL Malaysians
Price Range RM65,000
Selection Method Screening
Eligibility Criteria  1) Malaysian
2) Aged 18 years old and above
3) Have your own land or is one of the owners, or have the written permission of the landlord
4) The minimum land area is 2,800 kps 
5) Household income between RM750 and RM3,000
Documents Required 1) Copy of the applicant's identity card
2) Copy of latest paycheck
3) Completed application form
4) Copy of the Certificate of Land Office

5. Rumah Mampu Milik Wilayah Persekutuan (RUMAWIP)

Project Name Rumah Mampu Milik Wilayah Persekutuan (RUMAWIP)
Objective To affordable homes for middle-income Malaysians who stay and work in Wilayah Persekutuan.
Target Applicants Wilayah Persekutuan citizens
Price Range Below RM300,000
Selection Method Screening
Eligibility Criteria  1) Malaysian citizen
2) Aged 18 years old and above
3) Work or stay in Wilayah Persekutuan
4) Monthly gross income is below RM10,000.00 (Single) and RM15,000.00 (Married)
Documents Required 1) Copy of the applicant's identity card
2) Copy of latest paycheck
3) Copy of EPF statement
4) Completed application form
5 Statutory declaration
Constraint(s) Not allowed to rent out

Eligibility Criteria  1) Malaysian citizen
2) Aged 18 years old and above
3) Residing in Selangor
4) Household income is between RM3,000 and RM10,000 
5) Doesn't own property in Selangor
Documents Required 1) Copy of the applicant's identity card
2) Copy of latest paycheck/ income verification from Commissioner of Oaths
3) Copy of EPF statement
4) Statutory declaration
5) Copy of utility bills
Constraint(s) 1) Resale is forbidden within 5 years
2) Not allowed to rent out

2) Aged 21 years old and above
3) Priority will be given to first-time buyers, disabled people (OKU) and single mothers
Documents Required 1) Copy of the applicant and spouse's identity card
2) Copy of marriage certificate (if any)
2) Copy of latest paycheck/ income verification from Commissioner of Oaths
3) Copy of EPF statement
4) Statutory declaration
5) Copy of utility bills
