14 FULL-COVERAGE Scholarships Worth Considering Apart From JPA!

Malaysian students looking to pay for their tertiary education would have already heard of financial programmes such as JPA, PTPTN and MARA. Perhaps the most famous one is JPA, which not only provides full coverage on your tuition fees, it also gives you the opportunity to study overseas. The thing is, it’s also one of the most difficult to get accepted into.

Don’t worry though if you didn’t make the JPA list, there are plenty of other pre-university and undergraduate scholarship providers available! Some of them have capped values per year, which means you’d still have to fork out money if your course is more expensive. Then there are those which are full scholarships i.e. no cap on the value.

We decided to provide a list below of just SOME of the full-coverage scholarship programmes which you can consider applying for:

Courses: Economics, accounting, finance, actuarial science, law and computer science
Universities: At top universities per the Bank’s list of approved universities
Basic criteria: Not exceeding 19 years of age on 1 July 2019

3) Biasiswa Tunku Abdul Rahman (BTAR)

4) Gamuda Berhad Scholarship

5) Shell Malaysia Scholarship Programme

Courses: Various courses in the fields of engineering, sciences, commercial
Universities: Prestigious colleges and universities
Basic criteria: Not presently holding other scholarships/loans; prior to application, ensure eligibility to work in the country where the scholarship programme is offered
Type of coverage: Unspecified

6) The Star Education Fund

Location: Locally
Courses: Variety of courses such as fashion design technology, accountancy, mass communication, economics, computer science (games & interactive media), petroleum/mechanical/civil engineering, business with law, etc
Universities: Some of the best educational institutions per The Star’s approved list
Basic criteria: Malaysians not more than 25 years of age
Type of coverage: Full coverage of tuition fees

7) Yayasan TM (Telekom Malaysia)

Location: Locally and globally
Courses: Various courses in the fields of information technology, management, cinematic arts and engineering
Universities: MMU (locally); Australia, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Korea, Canada (globally)
Basic criteria: Not more than 21 years old
Type of coverage: Covers tuition fees, books and apparatus, stipend, computer allowance and practical allowance

8) UEM Group Scholarship Programme (Undergraduate)

Location: Locally
Courses: Various courses in the fields of business, built environment, engineering, IT and computer related
Universities: Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) - All Branches
Basic criteria: Malaysian citizens
Type of coverage: Academic expenses including tuition and examination fees, insurance, as well as allowances for books, computer and subsistence

9) Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) Global Scholarship Award

Location: Locally
Courses: Applicant’s selection of courses EXCEPT for pharmacy, dentistry, medicine and any other course unrelated to PNB
Universities: Successful candidates will be studying at local preparatory colleges determined by PNB prior to pursuing undergraduate studies at overseas universities, and subject to PNB’s approval
Basic criteria: Age not exceeding 19 years
Type of coverage: Unspecified

10) Jeffrey Cheah Foundation-Sunway Group Scholarship

Location: Locally and globally
Courses: Various courses in the fields of engineering, business/management, health sciences
Universities: Sunway University, Monash University, other local public and international universities
Basic criteria: Malaysian citizens below 21 years of age
Type of coverage: In addition to tuition fees, accommodation and a stipend to cover basic living expenses, candidates will be offered development opportunities such as internships and mentoring, and will be placed in Sunway Group of companies upon completion of their studies

11) Yayasan Sime Darby Pre-University Scholarship Programme

Location: Locally
Courses: Various courses in the fields of business-related as well as engineering and sciences
Universities: Kolej Yayasan UEM (Lembah Beringin)
Basic criteria: Malaysian citizens below 18 years of age
Type of coverage: Full scholarship includes tuition fees, board and lodging, books allowance

12) Yayasan Sime Darby Undergraduate Scholarship Programme

Location: Locally
Courses: Various courses in the fields of business-related as well as engineering and sciences

13) Yayasan Khazanah (Watan Scholarship Programme)

Courses: Foundation and undergraduate
Universities: At top universities per list of approved universities
Basic criteria: Not exceeding 18 years of age for the foundation programme; not exceeding 21 years of age for the undergraduate programme
Type of coverage: Full scholarships are offered which include full academic fees, living expenses, accommodation as well as development and training support

14) Sin Chew Daily Education Fund

Location: Locally
Courses: Various courses in the fields of business-related, IT, arts & design as well as engineering to name a few
Universities: Some of the top tertiary education institutes in the country including Brickfields Asia College, Help University, KDU University College, Multimedia University, Segi University & College, Sunway College & University, Taylor’s University, University of Nottingham, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) to name but a few
Basic criteria: Malaysian citizen born on or after 1 January 1993
Type of coverage: Full tuition fee waivers for the academic course selected
