Asia’s leading “buy now, pay later” platform, Atome, has launched its service in Malaysia featuring over 100 online and offline retailers on its platform. The company’s local market entry and rapid expansion saw notable brands such as Agoda, ezbuy, Eu Yan Sang and Hush Puppies coming onboard to adopt Atome’s “buy now, pay later” (BNPL) service as a payment option for their customers.

Other merchant partners across key verticals such as fashion, beauty, lifestyle and health/fitness also include brands like Obermain, Onikym, Lash Lab, Face Shop, Aprilskin, 176 Avenue, A Cut Above, Swee Lee Music, Novelship, Crumpler, Box of Bricks, Cocomi, Trapo, Liberty Active, Circle DNA, Tribe and Fly Project.

Setting up an account takes less than two minutes and can be completed entirely on Atome’s mobile app.

Shoppers in Malaysia can now shop and pay using Atome at merchant partners by scanning a QR code in-store or choosing Atome as a website checkout option. Paying with Atome allows shoppers to split their bill into three, zero interest payments over time with no additional service or admin fees.

Trasy Lou-Walsh, General Manager for Atome Singapore and Malaysia, said Atome’s service will not only change the way consumers shop and pay, but also support Malaysian retailers and local businesses as they bounce back from the sales crunch inflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the movement control orders (MCO).

“Offering Atome’s flexible payment option helps merchant partners increase conversions by 17% on average and average basket size by over 30%. We saw this in Singapore recently with Sephora and how they were able to widen their customer base thanks to Atome. In the case of leading homeware brand, IUIGA, they doubled their average basket size and grew transactions by 15X after integrating Atome into their checkout process,” said Walsh.

Addressing the unprecedented impact of the pandemic especially on SMEs and local businesses, Walsh said, “Our payment option to split bills over three zero-interest payments and no hidden charges empowers consumers with choice, convenience and flexibility in how they choose to shop and pay. Likewise, offering Atome as a payment option during checkout helps local businesses drive better sales and conversion among the consumers''.

Launched in Singapore in December 2019, Atome has grown to become Asia’s largest buy now pay later platform, currently partnering with over 2,000 online and offline retailers in seven markets (Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam and mainland China). Key merchant partners and e-commerce platforms include Sephora, Agoda, Zara, Marks & Spencer, Charles & Keith, Eu Yan Sang and JD.ID in verticals such as beauty, fashion, electronics, home decor, travel and lifestyle. Atome Malaysia’s mobile app is available on the App Store and Google Play.
