Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

A cashback credit card is where a percentage of the amount you spend will be given back to you when you purchase goods and services. Basically, it is a way to save and spend money simultaneously.

The cashback percentage rate differs for every cashback credit card which is determined by the bank. The amount you earn back from your purchases made by the card depends on this percentage rate. For instance, your credit card offers a 10% cashback and you spend RM100 monthly, you would receive a cashback of RM10 and have a total expense of RM90.

Yes, cashback cards have different limitations and requirements depending on the issuing bank such as:

  • A flat rate of cashback with no limitations on the amount spent and where you spend your money
  • A tiered rate of cashback based on the amount you spend
  • A different rate of cashback based on where you spend your money
  • A minimum/partial or full payment of your credit card bill
  • A maximum amount of cashback you can get every month

Be sure to carefully read the terms and conditions regarding the cashback credit card you are interested in before signing up for one.

You can check the amount of cashback you have obtained through your monthly statements either by mail, email or online/mobile banking. Alternatively, you can call or visit the bank to get the information you need.

There are several ways to redeem your cashback depending on your bank:

  • Bank Deposit : You can often have a direct deposit payment into your savings account
  • Statement Credit : You can generally use your cashback to pay your credit card balance
  • Gift Cards : You can opt to receive a gift card to spend at selected retailers
  • Charitable Donations : You may choose to partly or fully donate your cashback to a charity of your choice

It is best to read the fine print of the available ways your bank offers for you to claim your cashback.

There is no benefit if you return a product as the cashback you were initially supposed to receive will be lost as well. Credit card issuers have policies where in the event of a refund, they will have to deduct the cashback previously earned.

It’s as simple as filling up an application form and submitting the relevant personal documents. On Loanstreet, just press apply and fill in your details. You will receive a phone call from us within 1 working day in order to check your eligibility, after which we will submit your application to the banks. You will then deal with the banks directly until your application is approved and your credit card is received.

  • Ensure that you have sufficient income to repay your balance and the income declared in the application is solely yours.
  • You could also have a guarantor who has a good credit history to cosign the application, for example, your parents, to be able to get a preferred interest rate.

Every card issuer has a different processing time to approve your application. However, it usually takes 7-10 days to receive your card, either by mail or collection at the bank. To make the processing time faster and more efficient, be sure to submit all the relevant documents with the correct details required by the card issuer.

You must contact your respective bank immediately and request to block your card. If you do not report it as soon as possible, you may be liable for the charges made to your card. The hotline services are available 24 hours for this issue. Besides that, you should also report to the police to protect yourself from any unauthorised usage.
